How Can I Help My Sore Leg After a Cramp?

For years now I have been getting leg cramps in the night. I had one this morning just as I was waking up. Mine are usually quite painful, although this one lasted about twice as long as usual and now I can barely walk at all. Even when I sit I get these these sharp twinges of pain in my calf muscle. I dont know whether is best to keep my leg stretched out or not. Will having it stretched out straight help or make it worse? Anyone know of good ways to help the soreness and pains? I know what causes these things so I dont really need help in that department but I'm in so much pain right now I dont know what to do!
