Male sugar gliders mating at 8 months?

tonight i got my sugar gliders out to rom around my bedroom before i go to bed and when i got them out of the pouch the male was on top of my female and he wouldnt get off for anything! well i looked sugar gliders mating and males arnt saposed to mate when they are 8 months...and when i looked he didnt have his "manlyness" out so i put them back after an hour of watching them, but is it still possible for them to mate when he's only 8 months?
