How many exemptions/allowances should i claim for federal income tax?

I am single (head of household) with 1 dependent. No one can claim me as a dependent. I currently earn 42k annually. I now file 2 exemptions and claim 2 on taxes. I don't want to owe anything to the IRS. Should I file 0, and have more taxes withheld during the course of year.
