Will some Greenie out there explain how increasing tax is Green?

The Labour government is raiaing tax on car at a rate of about 20% per year. This is green they say. Bullshit I say. The only people who will suffer as a reault of this are those who live in villages in the countryside which are not served by a bus or train service. Seems to me that the tax on road fuel and road tax is merely a means to prop up a spendthrift government and that Global Warming is just an excuse, it it occurs at all which I think doubtful.
